A healthy and productive workplace is essential and we believe that nothing is more important than the health and safety of our colleagues and that the delivery of a positive safety culture demonstrates respect for colleagues. With new programs & education initiatives we have seen a significant reduction in our Accident Frequency Ratio. Our latest campaigns hold the handrail and keep gangways and exits clear are designed to drive awareness as these areas are a frequent cause of accidents.
We also have a comprehensive program of events designed to promote health and wellbeing throughout the organisation. Some of these are conducted in conjunction with the Irish heart Foundation including Sli Na Slainte (a health walk) in Naas a 1km – 10 minute walk to encourage employees to walk at lunch. We also have seasonal programs such as sun smart, healthy eating, men & woman’s health. A recent a health and wellbeing promotion focused on looking after our mind and body through exercise and food as well as highlighting a free employee assistance help line, which is available to all Green Isle employees.
As a major food manufacturer and an employer of around 650 people across 4 operating sites, Green Isle Foods strives to have a positive impact on the community both at a national and local level.
Barretstown has been our Charity of Choice since 2012. Barretstown is a Serious Fun Camp and supports children with serious illness and their families and provides Therapeutic Recreation programmes for children with serious illnesses.
Locally, our individual sites work closely with the communities where they operate and some initiatives are supporting local schools with mock interviews, work placements, careers days and Sponsorship of Scientist of the Year.
