Our approach to sustainability
Our approach to sustainability focuses on Green Isle Foods being a good neighbour, becoming a better citizen of the planet, a better producer, offering a better place to work and, most important of all, keeping the customer at the heart of everything.
Green Isle Food Group’s is committed to improving our sustainability targets and as an organisation has a developed a strategic plan which outlines the ambitions, initiatives and specific targets in key areas over the next number of years with the goal of improving our sustainability targets across the organisation. Progress against these committements are communicated regularly to our leadership team and are approved and monitored at the highest level.
Over recent years we have been recognised for our actions, including in 2010, achieving the Repak Best Packaging Reduction Initiative Award. In 2012, Green Isle Foods Naas successfully completed it’s participation in the EPA Cleaner Greener Production Programme and was recognised for efforts in energy and waste reduction. Our pastry plant has recently received a number of quality awards from the 2 Sisters Food Group and Sainsbury’s, a leading retailer in the UK.
To ensure our commitment to sustainability, we have developed a number of partnerships with leading organizations committed to improving sustainability in Ireland and in food manufacturing globally.
We are a certified member of Bord Bia’s Origin Green program whose mission is to improve Irish sustainability targets with Irish food companies. This business to business initiative is an evidence based approach, which is independently audited to produce sustainable food in Ireland
The three key pillars of the Origin Green program are improving raw materials sourcing, enhancing manufacturing processes as well as contributing to social sustainability. This is reflected in our endeavours and Green Isle’ results are independently audited every year to improve performance.
